Dr. Miloš Cvetković, Research Associate of the Institute for Byzantine Studies of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, visited the Institute for Medieval Research of the Austrian Academy of Sciences – Division of Byzantine Research (Institut für Mittelalterforschung der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften – Abteilung Byzanzforschung) in Vienna from November 1 to 5, 2022.
The research visit was organized within the framework of the project “From Barbarians to Christians and Rhomaioi. The Process of Byzantinization in the Central Balkans (late 10th – mid-13th century),” supported by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia (project number: 7748349; project acronym: BarByz_10-13).
The research was chiefly dedicated to compiling data on sigillographic material pertinent to the ongoing project (primary sources and relevant literature). In this context, consultations were held with experts in Byzantine sigillography, Professor Dr. Alexandra-Kyriaki Wassiliou-Seibt and Dr. Werner Seibt, as well as with Dr. Mihailo St. Popović, an expert in historical geography.
