Dr. Stanoje Bojanin, Senior Research Associate of the Institute for Byzantine Studies of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts visited the Institute for Medieval Research of the Austrian Academy of Sciences – Division of Byzantine Research (Institut für Mittelalterforschung der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften – Abteilung Byzanzforschung) in Vienna from November 6 to 10, 2023.

The research was organized within the framework of the project “From Barbarians to Christians and Rhomaioi. The Process of Byzantinization in the Central Balkans (late 10th – mid-13th century),” supported by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia (project number: 7748349; project acronym: BarByz_10-13).

The principal aim of the visit was to engage in academic dialogue with colleagues at the Institute working on related topics, fostering scholarly exchange and collaboration. Additionally, extensive use was made of Vienna’s research libraries, with particular emphasis on literature relevant to the social history questions explored by the ongoing project.
