Within the project “From Barbarians to Christians and Rhomaioi. The Process of Byzantinization in the Central Balkans (late 10th – mid-13th century)” supported by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia within the Program Ideas (Acronym BarByz_10-13, Grant No. 7748349) a round-table entitled “Territorial component of Byzantinization” was held in the SASA Palace on March 13, 2023. The members of the project team were joined by experts from various scholarly disciplines relevant to the questions discussed. The participants included academicians from the Serbian Academy of Science and Arts, professors from the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Belgrade and researchers from the Archaeological Institute, the Institute of History and Institute for Medieval Research of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Bojana Krsmanović, Dr. Predrag Komatina and Dr. Miloš Cvetković presented the results of their work up to this point. The findings concern different models of Byzantine rule in the central part of the Balkan Peninsula from the end of the 10th to the 13th century. The presentations were accompanied by cartographic material prepared by Dr. Vladan Zdravković and followed by discussion. The round-table was also attended by PhD students of history, classical philology, archeology and history of art.
